July/August
2002
Thursday
Summer skies, late afternoon. Dramatic colors. Always make me wish I were
a painter.
Saturday
Filled the birdbath and a pileated woodpecker came right in for a drink.
Sunday
Dragonfly season and dragonfly questions: Why do they like tennis balls?
Why do they like car antennae?
Monday
Better start lining up my mango sources; big ones are ripe in August!
Tuesday
Tennis clinic was hot but a great workout. Almost justified the key lime
sherbet I ate this afternoon.
Wednesday
A slow morning with iced coffee and the Sunday Times. I wish I could operate
at this speed all year and get away with it.
Thursday
Had my car windows down, came to a stop sign, and two butterflies flew
in one window and out the other. Sigh.
Saturday
Late-night Glo-Bowling at Beach Bowl with TR, LM, and NW. Ya gotta love
summer.
Monday
Spent yesterday exploring Estero, Bonita, FGCU. Wow, a lot of changes
around the university
Tuesday
Got a postcard from G&R in Italy the same day I got e-mail from O&M
in Australia. International Day.
Thursday
Yard work till sunset. Took an icy lemonade into a hot shower. Starting
to make a dent in the frozen lemon cubes from Kens tree.
Friday
S took me up for a sunset flight over the islands; wow, was it beautiful.
Saw Brian coming back from Cabbage Key; flew circles above his boat.
Saturday
S & I spent the day poking around antique stores in Arcadia, then
drove to Alva to buy honey from the Curtis family. I still want my own
bees someday.
Sunday
S went to breakfast with the boys; I played tennis with a Sundial guest.
Rendezvous planned at an air-conditioned matinée.
Tuesday
Lost track of the month today; had to stop and really think. Thats
a funny aspect of life in permanent sunshine.
Wednesday
Watched Nemo chasing something in the grass. The fresh fish M brought
him must have perked him up.
Thursday
Stopped by Jensens; saw the otters and four manatees. A banner wildlife
day.
Friday
B&H came up from Naples with the kids. We all went on the dolphin
cruise; had a great time. I guess Ill still be nutty for dolphins
even when Im 90.
