Since its inception in 1996, Times of the Islands
stands as "Ambassador par excellence" for coastal Southwest
Florida and its barrier islands. Our name is synonymous with everything
that captures the true essence of island living: the natural beauty of
sunsets and tropical vegetation, the placid gulf waters, and the relaxed
demeanor of those who reside here. It was this vision that led Publisher
Friedrich Jaeger to trade a hectic business in Pennsylvania and New York
for the opportunity to start a publication representative of this piece
of paradise. A seasoned world traveler, he shares his perspective on island
life and those who live it in his annual publisher’s
letter.
Through their great love and respect for the land,
spirit of fellowship and
remarkable sense of humor, Southwest Florida’s island residents have
lent to the area their unique features; for it takes a most singular type
of people to make these islands what they are today. This awakened the
desire in all of us involved with Times of the Islands to give back to
this land and its community our talents and innermost appreciation in
