Friday
S tells me he actually saw a crow flying down Middle Gulf Drive with a
tennis ball hanging from his beak!
Saturday
Used dehydrated mangoes (from L’s yard) to make a sauce for dinner.
Glad I rescued the overage in July.
Sunday
Played early tennis, went out for a huge brunch with J&M, changed
into a swimsuit, and played cards poolside until dark. Now that’s
a Sunday.
Tuesday
Pruned the cabbage palms before dark. Think I finally found the cardinal’s
nest.
Thursday
Raccoon
family definitely using the short pilings we put by the birdbath—spied
them all having a long drink.
Friday
Our little black racer left another snakeskin on the front porch. Wonder
why he comes upstairs to molt? Saturday Boated up to Bokeelia with J&M&S
for lunch at the Lazy. Dolphin all the way home.

Ospreys gave us an early wake-up call. Mullet were really jumping in the
bayou, so I can’t blame ‘em.
Thursday
Sabby dropped off some extra fish—a great surprise for the cook.
Friday
Went on a sunset sail with S; sky was every color of the rainbow. Just
when it couldn’t get any better, a huge ray jumped out of the gulf!
Wednesday
Early tennis, late yard work. Mysterious Mosquito Control chopper pilot
is my hero!
Thursday
Nemo was really studying the crabs under our dock tonight. I took down
some bacon so he could watch a food frenzy.
Friday
Gopher tortoise crossed the road in front of my car on the way home. Is
that good luck?
Sunday
Checked out Z’s new house on North Cap. I like the no-cars scenario
up there. S still has a fever for a place on the airstrip.
Tuesday
Took a golf-cart tour of the village. Captiva’s pretty quiet this
time of year. Maybe I should grab C and try to play some golf while nobody’s
around.
Wednesday
Well, the wildlife was better than the golf game. Saw an eagle, but made
no birdies. I’ll blame it on the beer.
Friday
Long overdue beach walk this morning. I need to do this more often. How
can I forget to go to the beach when I live on an island?
Tuesday
L&M making noise about a weekend in the Bahamas. I can’t think
of a single reason not to go.
Thursday
Got up extra early. Saw a rabbit on our neighbor’s driveway—the
first one ever.
Friday
Resisted urge to buy extra carrots.
